Mantis Eye

Caught it in Taiwan. It is the easiest insect to photograph because it never moves!! Unlike bees, dragon flies, it just stands still.

Cyclist 2

He is the only Japanese guy in the competition, puffing a lot comparing to other participants.

Lucky that he is not moving too fast to do a bit of panning

Paid shoot

This was a great day - too warm, too windy and too many flies!

The shoot happened well but too much over-exposure on many shots. Really enjoying some of the outcomes of casual urban protraits.

However, I failed to reveal her personality through these images (advises being told) :)

Cycling

A warm hot day in Melbourne.

Joel and I went for a walk around botanic garden looking for some macro to shoot.

Incidentally, discovering a cycling competition taking place

Here is one of the shots :)

Bronze Statues

The bronze work has been standing in Swanston st CBD since I ever arrived Melbourne as an immigrant. It survived so many winters and I seemed to have an emotional attachment to the statues.

Ironic to see such a scenery!

Bubble Cup girl

She told me that she earned 8 dollar per hour for this job. She is very lovely, kind and elegant from Mainland China. There is no way on earth I would do for a job earning that amount.

Spring air 2 by Pentax A 50mm f1.2

Love the feel of spring not because it is mating season for the nature. It is the start of the year that refreshes and rejuvinates.

Surf

Torqay - Surf heaven.

However, the water was still very cold - waves directly coming from the antarctic ocean. This man was very brave!!

Big eyes wide open

A close up on the compound eyes which is known to have black and white vision.

A world without colour can be so drastic but I guess it might not be that bad if the butterfly does not even know what colour is first place!

Fried Eggplant

My mum's best dish and something from Hakka heritage.

It is known that egg plants contain 97% water and 3% soluble fiber. The trace minerals are neglegible. Funny that is. Recently the vegitable is reported to contain strong anti tumour activity in which the chemical has not yet been isolated.

Anyway, mum's cooking destroyed all the vitamins and break away the fiber bonds by deep frying first before frying .... So much is there for the nutrition

Koala thinking

What is koala thinking? Encountered this near a cafe. It was looking far away, beyond the eukalypt trees.

Cafe sentiment

At Starbuck Cafe, coffee aroma filled the air. The whole place had a warm feel. It was quiet for some reasons, but it did not bother me. It was a nice way to relax immersed in this environment.

Really funky. I sort of captured this by an accident. The building does have a great colour as a good backdrop. Pity that the eyes are not revealed ...

Young Kitten

At the start of my long weekend, I had a casual walk to the camberwell junction.

Along the journey, I spotted this young kitten in front of a yard. It did not get scared of me at all. Pity that it had a collar on. Otherwise I would have stolen this cat home!! So cute

Ferns

Woods are always a place that is quiet and mysterious. The air was particularly fresh since there is a lot of Chloride anions floating around bathing the travellers through the forest.

Ferns, in particular, are probably the oldest species and succeeding in the evolutionary way to pass on genetic materials to the next generation most effectively. Their colour and dripping dews always made me feel lively in some ways. The colour is also quite sophisticated from the shot.

Longivity noodle

The noodle is named this way as it is made long and continious. It is not allowed to be cut into fragments or sections as to make sure the "longivity" is swallowed into Grand parents' stomachs as a attribute to "familial piety".
